Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions Continues its 5-Star Excellence
BUFFALO, N.Y. – October 25, 2024 – For a fifth time in the last seven years, Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions has earned a 5-Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Star Ratings system for its Medicare Employer Group Waiver Plan (EGWP) Prescription Drug Plan (PDP)*.
This is the fourth year in a row that Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions has been awarded a 5-Star Rating from CMS, a feat that demonstrates a steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest level of excellence and value. For the 2025 plan year, Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions is 1 of only 2 Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) nationwide to receive a 5-Star Rating.
Across the industry, we’ve observed a sharp and steady decline in the average overall Star Rating for all PDPs; for the 2025 plan year, the average rating was a staggering 3.06, the lowest it has been in recent years. In contrast, Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions has set themselves apart from any other PDP nationwide as the only plan to ever be awarded a perfect Star Rating year after year.
“We are incredibly honored to once again be awarded the highest quality rating from CMS,” said Lynne Reilly, President of Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Independent Health. “Receiving and retaining our 5-Star Rating is a tremendous accomplishment. Our consistent performance is reflective of the entire staff’s ongoing commitment to putting our customers first.”
Star Ratings are released annually and reflect the experiences of patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans. The system supports CMS' efforts to empower people to make health care decisions that are best for them. Plans are rated based on a 5-Star system — 1 star meaning “poor” quality and 5 stars for “excellent” quality. The key components that Part D Prescription Drug Plans are measured on each year include:
- Drug Plan Customer Service
- Beneficiary Complaints and Changes in the Drug Plan’s Performance
- Beneficiary Experience with the Drug Plan
- Drug Safety and Accuracy of Drug Pricing
“We are proud of our historical Star Ratings performance, which we have achieved through diligent pursuit of excellence in quality and customer experiences,” Reilly added. “This rating demonstrates the dedication and tireless efforts of our staff to provide superior levels of value and service to our beneficiaries.”
